【摘要】:Thispracticeestablishesprocedurestobefollowedtodocumentthenature,state,orconditionofitemsofevidence.Italsodescribesspecificactionsthatarerequiredifplannedtesting,examination,disassembly,orotheractionsarelikelytoalterthenature,state,orconditionoftheevidencesoastoprecludeoradverselylimitadditionalexaminationortesting.1.1Thispracticesetsforthguidelinesfortheexaminationandtestingofactualitemsorsystems(hereinaftertermedevidence)thatmayhavebeeninvolvedinaspecificincidentthatareormaybereasonablyexpectedtobethesubjectofcivilorcriminallitigation.Thispracticeisintendedtobecomeapplicablewhenitisdeterminedthatexaminationortestingofevidenceisrequired,andsuchexaminationislikelytochangethenature,stateorconditionoftheevidence.1.2Thispracticerecommendsgenerallyacceptableprofessionalpractice,althoughthefactsandissuesofeachsituationmayrequirespecificconsiderationsnotexpresslyaddressedherein.Deviationsfromthispracticearenotnecessarilywrongorinferior,butsuchdeviationsshouldbejustifiedanddocumented.1.3Thispracticeoffersasetofinstructionsforperformingoneormorespecificoperations.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducation,training,orexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthispracticemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
