【摘要】:Thesoil-limepHtestisperformedasatesttoindicatethesoil-limeproportionneededtomaintaintheelevatedpHnecessaryforsustainingthereactionsrequiredtostabilizeasoil.ThetestderivesfromEadesandGrim.Performancetestsarenormallyconductedinalaboratorytoverifytheresultsofthistestmethod.Thistestmethodwillnotprovidereliableinformationrelativetothepotentialreactivityofaparticularsoil,norwillitprovideinformationonthemagnitudeofincreasedstrengthtoberealizedupontreatmentofthissoilwiththeindicatedpercentageoflime.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtoestimatethepercentageoflimeashydratedlimeorquicklimeneededtostabilizesoil.Agriculturallime(crushedlimestone)willnotstabilizesoil.Note18212;Notwithstandingthestatementsonprecisionandbiascontainedinthistestmethod:Theprecisionofthistestmethodisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingitandthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting.UsersofthistestmethodarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotitselfensurereliabletesting.Reliabletestingdependsonseveralfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thistestmethodprovidesameansforestimatingthesoil-limeproportionrequirementforstabilizationofasoil.Thistestmethodisperformedonsoilpassingthex2212;425-x03BC;m(No.40)sieve.Theoptimumsoil-limeproportionforsoilstabilizationisdeterminedbytestsofspecificcharacteristicsofstabilizedsoilsuchasunconfinedcompressivestrengthorplasticityindex.1.2Somehighlyalkalineby-products(limekilndust,cementkilndust,andsoforth)havebeensuccessfullyusedtostabilizesoil.Thistestmethodisnotintendedforthesematerialsandanysuchproductwouldneedtobetestedforspecificcharacteristicsasindicatedin1.1.1.3Thistestmethodisusedtodeterminethelowestpercentageoflimethatresultsinasoil-limepHof12.4.1.4Limeisnotaneffectivestabilizingagentforallsoils.Somesoilcomponentssuchassulfates,phosphates,organics,andsoforthcanadverselyaffectsoil-limereactionsandmayproduceerroneousresultsusingthistestmethod.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
